Tom Siebel discussed many of the themes of his just-released book Digital Transformation at a sold-out Commonwealth Club event in San Francisco on July 15.

Siebel was interviewed by tech and culture reporter Nellie Bowles of The New York Times on topics ranging from the opportunities created by AI and other new technologies to the social challenges that these new technologies pose. “There are serious social implications of the use of AI that we need to anticipate,” he observed.

In response to an audience question about the role of education in society, Siebel spoke about its vital importance in civil society as well as in a workforce that is continuously keeping pace with changing technology, alluding to C3.ai’s robust programs to promote employee self-learning.
