Redwood City, Calif. – Nov. 7, 2017 — Constellation Research honored Origin Energy (ASX: ORG), Australia’s leading integrated energy company, with the 2017 SuperNova Award recognizing Origin’s leadership in applying disruptive technology to achieve remarkable business results. Origin’s Integrated Gas (IG) business is using C3 IoT’s AI and IoT software platform as the foundation for its enterprise-wide digital transformation.
“The 2017 SuperNova Award winners represent truly impressive case studies in disruptive innovation,” said R “Ray” Wang, chairman and founder of Constellation Research. “These leaders and teams are forging ahead with digital transformation, implementing disruptive technologies, and preparing their organizations for the future. The winners of this year’s awards demonstrated not only an understanding of digital transformation’s impact on business, but an understanding of how to thrive after transformation is complete. The judges were impressed by the gutsiness and the metrics of the winning projects. Here we have leaders who took calculated risks for big payoffs.”
Origin’s Digital Transformation
Each well in Origin IG’s portfolio of 2,000 gas wells is equipped with more than 50 sensors providing a rich set of real-time data from 200 million reads per day. Origin IG selected C3 IoT to unify, analyze, and derive operational value from those data, in conjunction with petabytes of data in other siloed enterprise systems, and develop two AI/machine learning applications to identify predictive maintenance opportunities and optimal equipment configuration options to help the company achieve its operational and cost savings goals.
“When I came to Silicon Valley and met with C3 IoT, it suddenly clicked for me. I could see how those incredible volumes of data could be turned into really valuable insights,” said Maia Schweizer, General Manager, IG Operations, Origin Energy. “My engineers were amazed by how easy C3 IoT made it seem, overcoming in a couple of weeks what had been taking months and months to scratch our heads over.”
Following the delivery of the two production-ready use cases, Origin IG and C3 IoT are now developing a further set of AI and IoT applications on the C3 IoT Platform to address additional use cases across all facets of Origin’s Integrated Gas business.
The SuperNova Award winners were selected from a pool of more than 200 applicants. Selected by the SuperNova Award Judges and public polling, the SuperNova Award winners demonstrated the foresight, creativity and measured audacity to successfully implement emerging technologies for their organizations. The winners of the 2017 SuperNova Awards were announced at a gala event at Constellation’s Connected Enterprise on October 26 at the Ritz Carlton in Half Moon Bay, CA.
