San Diego Gas & Electric provides 3.6 million people power through 1.4 million electric meters and 873,000 natural gas meters across 4,100 square miles across San Diego and southern Orange counties. The company implemented two C3 IoT Applications on Amazon Web Services to provide commercial and residential customers up-to-date billing, measurement data, and a complex integration and visualization of over 100 energy rates.
Customer Insights and Analysis
Over the course of a six-month project, SDG&E and C3 IoT integrated seven data sources including customer billing and event data, interval and consumption data, and external data sources into a single, unified data image. The C3 Energy Management and C3 Commercial applications now analyze over 6 million measurement data records daily to provide flexible tools to customers for account, rate, and meter information.
The C3 Energy Management and C3 Commercial applications provide alerting based on predictive models, such as bill projection and peak demand forecasting, and visualization of consumption by rates via an easy-to-use interface. For customers, C3 Energy Management provides comparisons of energy usage and analytics to develop an energy reduction plan.
