At Utilities Analytics Week in Orlando‚ C3.ai and Duke Energy highlighted how utilities are leveraging analytics to gain new insights and solve business challenges.

Duke Energy’s Nicole Kurant‚ Lead Engineer for Asset Management System Intelligence described how Duke Energy uses health and risk management (HRM) strategies and analytical capabilities to manage and extend the lifecycle of utility transmission assets. Kurant explained how Duke uses HRM and analytics to build transformative tools to manage its transmission assets more efficiently‚ improve uptime‚ and gain operational efficiencies.

Duke Energy uses custom-developed analytics and solutions built on top of the C3 Platform running on AWS to implement condition-based maintenance and maximize the operationality of its systems.

Utility Analytics Week also showcased several other themes including:

  • Using customer analytics to drive growth‚ engage customers with new services and products‚ lower costs‚ and improve customer satisfaction
  • Using predictive analytics to improve grid reliability and crisis response
  • Designing centralized organizations to build digital transformation capabilities
